    Chelsea FAQs

    What optional arm-panel finishes are available for the Chelsea?

    Chelsea can be upgraded with lacquered wood or carbon-fibre arm panels, giving the seating a more individual and architectural appearance. Lacquered wood introduces warmth and can complement cabinetry, wall panelling and other joinery, while carbon fibre creates a more technical, contemporary finish.

    These panels are optional upgrades rather than part of the standard Chelsea specification. Please discuss the preferred material, colour and placement with Cinema Deco before ordering.

    Can the Chelsea arm panels be matched to my cinema interior?

    The lacquered arm-panel finish can be selected to coordinate with the wider interior scheme, including wall finishes, cabinetry and decorative joinery. Carbon fibre can be used to provide a contrasting detail within contemporary or technology-led cinema rooms.

    Because colours and surrounding materials can appear different under cinema lighting, we recommend agreeing the finish during the specification process. Contact Cinema Deco to discuss the available options.

    What is the difference between the standard and triple-motor Chelsea controls?

    The standard dual-control system adjusts the powered headrest separately from the combined backrest and footrest. It includes USB-A and USB-C charging and a return-to-home button.

    The triple-control upgrade provides independent adjustment of the headrest, backrest and footrest. It also adds a memory function for saving a preferred seating position. Triple control is particularly useful when different viewers want more precise support and positioning.

    Is heating and drinks cooling available on the Chelsea?

    Yes. Chelsea can be specified with an illuminated multifunction cupholder that incorporates seat heating, drinks cooling, powered seat controls, USB-C charging and a return-to-home function.

    This upgrade is a useful option for longer films and premium dedicated cinemas. It replaces the standard controller arrangement, so the required control functions should be confirmed when placing the order.

    How much space does the Chelsea need to recline?

    Chelsea uses a wall-hugging mechanism and requires approximately 250mm of clearance behind the seat. A standard seat measures approximately 900mm deep when closed and extends to approximately 1,700mm when fully reclined.

    You should also allow sufficient space for access and circulation around the seating. Download the Chelsea dimensions sheet and check the fully extended measurement before finalising the room layout.

    Which Chelsea configuration should I choose?

    Chelsea is available as a single seat, loveseat, daybed and straight rows of two to five seats. Bespoke sofa-style and curved arrangements can also be considered depending on the room.

    The best configuration depends on room width, the number of viewers, screen position, walkways and whether every seat needs its own armrests. Cinema Deco can review your room dimensions and help identify an arrangement that provides comfort without overcrowding the space.

    How does Chelsea compare with other Cinema Deco recliners?

    Chelsea has a soft, sculpted silhouette and sweeping arm design, making it particularly suitable for contemporary interiors where the seating should feel elegant rather than heavily architectural.

    For a more dramatic specification with extensive wood, carbon-fibre and stitched detailing, consider the Knightsbridge premium reclining cinema seating. The Hampstead offers a more tailored, traditional luxury character, while the Islingtonand Kensington provide modular sofa-inspired reclining alternatives.

    Does each Chelsea seat recline independently?

    Yes. Each powered seating position can be adjusted independently, allowing viewers to choose their preferred recline and headrest positions without moving the other seats in the row.

    The exact functions depend on whether you select the standard dual-control system, triple-control upgrade or heating and cooling cupholder controller. Each powered seat will also require an appropriate electrical connection, which should be included in the room plan.

    Is Chelsea suitable for both media rooms and dedicated cinemas?

    Yes. Chelsea combines the support and adjustment of a specialist cinema recliner with softer styling that can work in a dedicated theatre, media room or multifunctional entertainment space.

    For an informal living space where a conventional sofa appearance is the priority, compare Chelsea with the fixed Mayfair modular cinema sofa. For an individually adjustable cinema experience, Chelsea provides powered recline and headrest support while retaining an elegant furniture-led appearance.

    How long does Chelsea take to make, and what warranties are provided?

    Chelsea seating is handmade to order, with an estimated delivery time of approximately 10–14 weeks. A 50% payment confirms the order and production slot, with the remaining balance payable before delivery.

    The current component-specific warranties are 10 years for the wooden frame and structure, five years for the metal mechanism, and three years for the upholstery and electric motors. Full warranty conditions and delivery arrangements should be confirmed when placing the order.
