Home Cinema LED Display FAQs

What is a MicroLED games room display? +

A MicroLED games room display is a modular, direct-view screen made from self-emissive LEDs. Each pixel creates its own light, producing strong contrast, vivid colour and high brightness without a projector or separate backlight. The modular format allows the display to be designed at a scale that suits the room.

Why choose MicroLED for a games room? +

MicroLED combines immersive scale with the brightness needed for a social, multi-purpose space. It can support console gaming, simulators, live sport, films and television on one seamless display. Its modular construction also gives designers greater freedom over the screen dimensions and architectural finish.

What MicroWall options are available for a games room? +

MicroWall CoB is available in three pixel pitches: 0.9mm and 1.2mm. Both provide the same 600-nit brightness, matt screen finish and 15,000:1 contrast ratio. The main difference is how closely you can sit and how large the display needs to be to reach a chosen resolution. 0.9 is recommended for viewing distances from 0.9m and 1.2mm from 1.25m.

Which pixel pitch should I choose? +

Choose the pixel pitch around your closest viewing position. MicroWall 0.9 is recommended from about 0.9m away and MicroWall 1.2 from 1.25m. A finer pitch is better for close seating; a wider pitch can be more economical where the screen and room are larger.

Will MicroWall look good in a bright games room? +

Yes. MicroWall produces 600 nits of brightness, making it well suited to rooms with normal daylight or ambient lighting. Its matt surface helps reduce distracting reflections, while the 15,000:1 contrast ratio preserves depth in darker game and film scenes. Direct sunlight onto the screen should still be avoided.

Is MicroWall suitable for console and PC gaming? +

Yes. MicroWall connects to consoles and gaming PCs through an external video processor. It operates at a 60Hz frame rate, making it well suited to mainstream gaming, simulators and sports viewing. If you require 120Hz gaming, variable refresh rate (VRR) or a specific latency target, please discuss this with us before the system is specified so we can specify for your screen and processor.

Can a MicroWall games room display be true 4K? +

Yes, but the physical screen size depends on the pixel pitch. MicroWall 0.9 reaches native 4K at approximately 162 inches and MicroWall 1.2 at about 217 inches. For smaller screens, content can still be displayed beautifully, but the final native resolution will be below 4K.

Is MicroWall suitable for multiplayer gaming and spectators? +

Yes. The display has a wide 160-degree viewing angle both horizontally and vertically, so players and spectators can see a consistent image from different positions. This makes it particularly useful for multiplayer sessions, racing simulators and live sport where everyone is not seated directly in front of the screen.

How good are the colour and dark-scene details? +

MicroWall covers at least 95% of the DCI-P3 colour range used for premium film and video content. Its high contrast and fine control of darker shades help reveal details in shadows without washing out brighter colours. The display can also be professionally calibrated to suit the room lighting and preferred content.

How durable is the CoB screen surface? +

The Full Flip Chip CoB modules have a sealed, matt surface with a 4H hardness rating. This makes the display more resistant to everyday contact, dust and minor knocks than exposed LED designs. The front of the display is rated IP65, while the rear is rated IP43.

How long should MicroWall last, and can it be serviced? +

The LEDs are rated for 100,000 hours to half brightness. The display is front-serviceable, so LED modules, power supplies and other components can be accessed from the room side without leaving a large maintenance space behind the wall. This helps simplify future servicing and component replacement.
