Cinema Seating Cleaning & Care
Regular, gentle care helps preserve the appearance and comfort of your Cinema Deco seating. This guide covers Dakota Leather, Nappa Leather, Velvet and House Fabric, alongside coordinating cushions and powered seating components.
If you are unsure which covering you have or which cleaning method to use, contact us before treating it.
Everyday Care
Remove dust and crumbs regularly, including from seams and gaps between seats. Protect your upholstery from prolonged direct sunlight and nearby heat sources, and keep the room dry and well ventilated.
Take care with sharp clothing fastenings, jewellery and pet claws. Avoid sitting or standing on armrests and extended footrests.
Dark denim and other clothing that is not colourfast can transfer dye onto upholstery, particularly lighter colours. Avoid contact with damp clothing and allow freshly applied lotions and hair products to dry before using the seating.
Spills and Stains
Blot liquid spills promptly with a clean, dry, white absorbent cloth. Do not rub, as this can spread the spill and work it further into the covering. Carefully lift away solid residue without scraping the surface.
Avoid soaking the upholstery or allowing liquid to enter seams, controls or electrical components. Before using an approved cleaner, test it in a concealed area and allow the test area to dry fully.
For oily spills, ink, dye transfer or persistent marks, ask us for advice before applying further treatments. Tell us about any cleaning product already used.
Dakota Leather
Dakota’s pronounced grain benefits from weekly dusting with a soft, dry cloth. Gently remove crumbs from seams using a suitable vacuum attachment, taking care not to scratch the surface.
Blot spills immediately. Where the supplied care instructions permit damp cleaning, use a soft cloth that has been thoroughly wrung out, then remove surface moisture with a soft, dry cloth. Do not soak the leather or use direct heat to dry it.
Use only cleaners and conditioners approved for the leather finish supplied. Contact Cinema Deco for the recommended product and application frequency. Avoid alcohol-based cleaners, solvents, degreasers, washing powder and furniture polish.
Natural grain variation and gradual creasing are part of genuine leather’s character.
Nappa Leather
Nappa’s smooth, supple surface should be dusted weekly with a clean, soft, dry cloth. Pay particular attention to frequently touched areas such as headrests and arms.
Blot spills promptly without scrubbing. Where damp cleaning is permitted by your care instructions, use a well-wrung soft cloth and follow with a dry cloth to remove surface moisture.
The name Nappa does not establish which cleaning treatment is suitable. Check with us before using a cleaner or conditioner, and avoid household polish, strong cleaning products and direct heat.
Subtle differences in grain and soft creasing are natural features of leather upholstery.
Velvet
Vacuum weekly using a soft upholstery attachment and gentle suction. Avoid rough wiping and powered rotating brushes. Gently brush in the direction of the pile using a suitable soft-bristled upholstery brush.
Velvet changes appearance with the direction of its fibres and the light. Contact can flatten the pile, creating shaded areas or pressure marks that may not be stains.
Blot spills with a clean, dry, white absorbent cloth. For stubborn marks, ask us to confirm a suitable neutral upholstery cleaner. Test any approved treatment in a concealed area first, use moisture sparingly and gently dab from the outside of the mark towards its centre. Allow the covering to dry naturally before use.
Some velvet coverings can be treated with carefully applied clothes-steamer to lift flattened pile. Contact us to confirm suitability and the correct method for your covering before attempting this. Never use or place an iron directly against velvet.
House Fabric
Keep House Fabric free from dust and crumbs with regular gentle vacuuming. Use a clean upholstery attachment on low suction and take care around seams and stitched details.
Blot spills promptly with a clean, dry, white cloth. Durability does not mean a fabric is stain-proof or suitable for every cleaning method. Check the material-specific instructions before using water, upholstery shampoo or a stain remover.
If a thread catches or becomes loose, do not pull it. Contact us for advice before cutting or attempting a repair.
Cushions and Covers
Care for coordinating cushions according to their Velvet or House Fabric covering. A zip does not necessarily mean the cover is removable or washable.
Do not machine-wash, tumble-dry or dry-clean a cover unless its care label permits it. Allow any approved cleaning treatment to dry fully before using the cushion again.
Powered Seats and Controls
Keep liquids away from buttons, charging ports, cables and mechanisms. Never spray cleaning products directly onto the seating or electrical fittings. Wipe accessible controls and cupholder surfaces with a soft, dry cloth.
Before cleaning near moving parts, return the seat to its home position and disconnect its power according to the operating instructions. Keep hands clear of the mechanism and do not dismantle components.
If liquid reaches an electrical component, stop using the affected seat, safely disconnect its power and contact us.
Professional Cleaning
For extensive soiling or stubborn stains, seek advice before booking a professional cleaner. Provide the material name, care instructions and details of any treatment already attempted.
The proposed method must suit both the upholstery and the powered seating beneath it. Do not assume steam cleaning, extraction cleaning or stain-protection sprays are suitable.
